See What God Can Do
Alumna Florence Sthreshley spent much of her life as a missionary in the Belgian Congo. She and her husband, Charles, also a Union graduate, were dedicated to their ministry to teach, preach and worship with the Congolese people. Later they continued their work serving several small churches in eastern North Carolina.
Union Presbyterian Seminary played a key role in their lives. During their service as missionaries, Flo and her family returned to Union on several occasions and stayed at Mission Court while on furlough. They were able to rest, study and visit churches to talk about their mission work in the Congo.
Still amazing today at 91, Flo attends Ashland Presbyterian Church, where she was nurtured as a child. Flo continues to generously support Union Presbyterian Seminary financially as well. After consulting with her financial advisor about the popular charitable IRA rollover, Flo took advantage of this law to donate to Union’s annual fund.
If you’re considering using an IRA to make a tax-wise gift to Union, we would be happy to talk to you about it.
